Ethics in Islam: Foundations of Moral Character

This course introduces the ethical values and moral principles emphasised in Islam. It helps learners understand how good character and righteous conduct strengthen a relationship with Allah (S.W.T.) and support fair, trustworthy relationships in family, work, and society. Teaching is drawn from the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.), with a focus on how Islamic ethics guide personal behaviour, social interaction, and everyday decisions.
The course is organised in three modules:
- Module 1: Ethics and morality in Islam — faith (iman) and character, the moral example of the Prophet (S.A.W.), and virtues such as humility, modesty, kindness, and respect.
- Module 2: Honesty (al-amanah) — truthfulness in private and public life, safeguarding trusts, and integrity in personal, social, and professional dealings.
- Module 3: Sincerity, fulfilling promises, and truthfulness — ikhlas (sincere intention), honouring commitments, speaking the truth, and the harm of lying, deception, and hypocrisy.
Requirements
This course is for learners who can read professional English at CEFR B2. No prior study of Islamic law is required. A willingness to reflect on everyday conduct is enough.
What You Will Learn
